As we begin to gear up for all of the Spring activities, be sure to mark your calendars for the Instrumental Music Jazz Concert happening March 2 and 3 in the Black Box.
There is a wonderful opportunity to double your contribution to helping fund WriterCoach Connection and our Academic Support Coordinator - check out how to do so here.
Speaking of how those $$ fund acadmic endeavors, March 14 is the date all 10th graders will need to take the CAHSEE. Check out how you can access help at OSA for your student here.
Finally, don't forget about our carpool connections. We have a new listing this week.
Kindest regards,

~A NOTE FROM MR. HARRIS~
OSA Community:
We have just secured the Scottish Rite Auditorium for our 2012 school musical, Les Miserables. We liked it so much -- the beautiful and unique venue, the world-class acoustics, the accommodating facility team -- that we also reserved it for 2013. Located on Lake Merritt within walking distance of OSA, the auditorium is one of Oakland's theatrical gems. Tickets are now available on the school website here. Including musicians and the tech/design crew, over 100 students are involved in the epic production. Performance dates are May 16 and 17.
Along with our gallery space in the Piedmont Piano complex, our enrollment in the Art Murmur group, the strong partnership with CCA, our annual Fairyland show, the March 23 friend-raiser at Scott's and recent performances at churches and local venues, OSA continues to be a vibrant presence in the East Bay arts community. This would not be possible without the work of our parent group: OSA is a busy place, and it's all hands on deck. We are deeply appreciative of the efforts of all of our families, and please know that when we make decisions, you are foremost in our minds.
Speaking of which . . . . we are busy developing plans for 2012-2013. We held a calendar meeting last week and now have tentative dates for the school year and our performances. School is scheduled to begin on August 27. We are also debating various weekly schedules that may be different from previous years, and we hope to have those out to you in early March so you can begin planning.
Next up: the March 2-3 jazz concert. I will be in NYC visiting the NYU Tisch campus to learn more about their arts admission process, so unfortunately I will miss it, but of course we hope to see you there. I'll have to settle for a CD or DVD of the performance. March is also the month of the Vocal Music concert, so be sure to check our website and make your plans.
Thanks,
Donn K. Harris Executive Director Artistic Director
